Letters
to the editor from this week's Chronicle:
Principal thanks community
The fall and winter sports seasons are coming to a close and I would
like to take this opportunity to thank all band members, cheerleaders,
athletes and coaches. In addition, thank you to the Cottonwood Chronicle
for wonderful coverage of all school events. Finally, thank you to
our parents and community for their dedicated efforts. First and
foremost we stress the importance of academic success; however, sports
offer a form of pride and enjoyment for our entire community.
The band performed at least 20 events, as well as district ball games.
The cheerleaders were at all home events, district events and state girl’s
basketball games. Often these two programs are overlooked and we
want to say thank you for your ongoing time and dedication to our sports
programs!
Junior High Athletics have had very successful seasons in football,
girls and boys basketball. Currently, junior high athletes are playing
volleyball and they will begin track practice on March 18, 2013.
To finalize, we are proud to have the Academic Champions for the 1-A
Division in football, the Sportsmanship Trophy for girl’s state basketball,
and the girls earned the third place trophy for state competition. Seven
wrestlers qualified for state wrestling, with five wrestlers earning medals
second through sixth place.
Spring sports practices began on February 22, 2013. We look forward
to seeing you at these activities and events.
