Summer reading program starts June 13
School’s out, summer is here!  Keep children’s reading skills advancing throughout the summer with a fun program they want to participate in.  Studies have shown, without continued reading in the summer months, children take 4 months once school begins to reach the same level they were at the end of the year before.  A simple solution is to involve them in a program which encourages reading with motivating activities, contests and fun.  Prairie Community Library’s summer reading program is your answer!
Starting Thursday, June 13th, all children, preschool through the 6th grade, are invited to “DIG INTO READING!”  This first session will begin early, at 1:00 for sign-up.  The rest of the sessions will begin at 1:30 and run till 3:00 each Thursday, from June 20th through July 25th.  We will skip Thursday, July 4th.  These sessions will take place at the Prairie Community Library in Cottonwood.  Each session will consist of READING along with activities, snacks, crafts, and fun.  Special guests will add their unique contributions.  Ongoing contests will encourage reading.  Games, activities and friends will make this program be the perfect place for children’s reading fun this summer.
Plans are now underway for this year’s summer reading program to continue the tradition of encouraging children to excel in reading as they participate in “Dig Into Reading”.  If any older children would like to assist, please contact either the Prairie Community Library at 962-3714 or Annette Wemhoff at 983-0075 as soon as possible.  See you Thursday, June 13th at the library to start your  summer reading adventure!
