At the Idaho State VFW convention in Worley, 245 delegates
cast votes resulting in the election of Rick Johnson of Cottonwood as the
Department Junior Vice Commander for 2013-2014. Johnson’s race was
the only contested department position. Johnson, the District 2 commander,
defeated the District 1 commander, Alan Roach of Clark Fork. Johnson
took the oath of office for his new position from National VFW Commander,
John Hamilton of Florida. Johnson relinquished command of District
2 to Les Pixley of Potlatch. Rick has a long list of VFW service
and continues to serve as Quartermaster/Adjutant for the Cottonwood VFW
Post. Johnson served as Department of Idaho VFW Safety Program Manager,
Department webmaster, District 2 commander for five years, Cottonwood Post
Commander, and Post Service Officer. Rick and his wife Veronica reside
in Cottonwood, where he owns and operates Prairie Computers.
