VFW Post named all-state
At the Veterans of Foreign Wars convention in Worley the VFW National Commander, John Hamilton, and the Idaho Department VFW Commander, Rich Cesler, presented Cottonwood VFW Post Commander, Joe Riener, with the All-State post award. This is the fourth consecutive presentation, of the annual award, to the Cottonwood based post. To receive the award the post achieved membership equivalent to 105 percent of the previous year, participation in the national awards programs (Voice of Democracy, Patriot’s Pen, and Teacher of the Year), donate to the National Military Society (NMS) charity, sell over 500 Buddy Poppies, and have many hours of community service. Commander Riener said, “With the exception of post membership, all of the other criteria require community support, and the local area residents are strong supporters of our VFW Post. Our post members take great pride in serving our local communities and the United States of America. This award goes to the entire community, and we owe the people a big thank you!”
