turn out for PHS volleyball
Prairie has 19 girls turned out for volleyball this season with currently 7 on the varsity and 12 on the JV. They got started with a jamboree at Grangeville Monday evening and get into regular season action next Tuesday, Sept. 3 at Troy. On the varsity squad this year are seniors Leah Holthaus and Beka Bruner, juniors Kayla Schumacher and Natasha Gimmeson and sophomores Krystin Uhlenkott, Hailey Danly and Shayla VonBargen. Holthaus, Uhlenkott and Danly are the only returnees from last year’s team. Despite the heavy losses to graduation Prairie appears to have a very athletic team that could challenge for a state berth. Genesee, with only 1 senior last year, would have to be the league favorite again. On the JV this season are juniors Jessi Riener, Holli Uhlorn and Kellie Heitman; sophomores Sarah Seubert, Talyss Lustig and Hanna Ross and freshmen Chaye Uptmor, Sam Remacle, Mikayla McWilliams, Kylie Tidwell, Darlene Gehring and Alli Hale. Cheyenne Hudson returns as head coach with Marlene Forsmann as JV coach and Julie Schumacher as a volunteer assistant. Photos from the Jamboree at Grangeville
