Eagle
Scout Court of Honor set
An Eagle Scout Court of Honor will be held for Seth Chaffee Monday, Dec. 30 at 6 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Don Owen District Commissioner will be the presenter. The ceremony will be an “Eagle Mountain Candle Ceremony.” A board of review was held Sept. 20 where Chaffee was approved for the honor. He will be the third Eagle Scout for Troop 638 joining Jared Nau and Mike Karel. Attending the Board of Review were Roger and Jane Burgess (committee members), Owen, Jim Remacle (representing the Cottonwood KC’s, the chartering organization), Karon Coburn, Owen Roberts and his parents, Kevin and Shari Chaffee. Chaffee’s Eagle Scout project was to landscape the area in front of the Cottonwood Chronicle, planting a flowering tree, building a new fence and adding river rock and a concrete bench. Chaffee spent 12 years in the Cub and Boy Scouts from 2001-2013. He earned 38 merit badges, was top popcorn seller, and earned Arrow of Light, First Class Scout and Den Chief awards. Leadership positions held in the Scouts were Scribe, Quartermaster, Patrol Leader and Senior Patrol Leader. Chaffee graduated with honors from Prairie High School this past Spring and is currently attending the University of Idaho where he is studying sports medicine.
