Hospital
staffs help with health care questions
Staff at both St. Mary’s and Clearwater Valley Hospital have been busy helping individuals and families achieve successful enrollment into the health plans through the Health Insurance Marketplace. Both hospitals along with many other In Person Assisters were selected by the Idaho Insurance Exchange and neither hospital receives any reimbursement from the insurance companies. “We are not competing with or trying to take the place of their personal insurance agent, commented Lessie Roughton, Financial Services Counselor. “Ideally those who need coverage should contact their personal insurance agent first to see if they can help them. We want to work together with the agents in making sure that everyone who needs coverage is getting it. We especially want to encourage business owners to visit with their insurance agent or broker about group coverage.” A primary goal of the new insurance options is to help the 17% uninsured in Idaho gain access to quality, affordable healthcare. Through the Marketplace, eligible Americans will be able to enroll in a health plan to get coverage. Financial help to lower costs is available for people who qualify. Consumers may be eligible for a free or low cost plan, or savings that lower monthly premiums right away. The open enrollment period ends March 31st. People are encouraged to sign up well before that date to prevent last-minute logjams. Enrolling any time between now and March 31 provides insurance coverage during 2014.
