Health Workshop set
A Soil Health Workshop is slated for Wednesday February 26, 2014 at Greencreek Community Hall. Registration will begin at 8:30 am with the program to begin at 9:00 a.m. Featured speakers will be Matthew Slaughter, Founder and President of Earthfort Labs in Corvallis, Or. Matt will discuss how soil biology relates to soil health. He will also explain soil test analysis results and methods of improving soil health. Dick Johnson, NRCS Nutrient Management Specialist, will talk on soil chemistry, soil pH and compaction. Marlon Winger, NRCS State Agronomist, will talk about how you can I tell If your soil is healthy. His presentation will include demonstrations on soil stability and water infiltration. Ken Hart, U of I Extension, will touch on cover crops, and the results of the Lewis Soil Conservation District’s cover crop test plots and the grazing trials. He will also talk on pesticide rotation. Pesticide recertification credits and CCA credits have been applied for. This educational workshop is hosted by the Lewis Soil Conservation District, Idaho Soil and Water Conservation District, and the Clearwater Soil and Water Conservation District.
