wrestlers advance to State Tournament
The Prairie wrestler team competed at the Regional Tournament at Potlatch Saturday, Feb. 22 and all 4 team members will advance to the State Tournament at the Ford Idaho Center this coming Friday and Saturday, Feb. 28-March 1. At 113 lbs. Kellie Heitman was the only wrestler in her weight class at Regionals and advances to state as Regional champion. She will face Brody Smith of Oakley in her first round matchup. At 120 lbs. Nathan Gimmeson was the district runner-up, losing to Hayden Humphrey of St. Maries. They were the only 2 in their weight class. Gimmeson will face Sebastian Salazar of Challis in his first round match at State. At 126 lbs. Dally Ratcliff was the Regional Champion and will face Trent Gines of Wendell in his opening match. At 152 lbs. Hunter McWilliams took third at Regionals and will face Isaac Riley of Melba in his opening round match at State. Wrestling action starts at noon MST Friday, Feb. 28 at the Idaho Center with championship rounds 1 and 2 being held until 3 p.m. At 6 p.m. consolation rounds 1 & 2 and championship semis will start and run until 8:30 p.m. Consolation round 3 starts at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 1 and anyone getting past that round will earn a state medal. Consolation semis start at 10:30 a.m. 3rd-4th and 5th-6th matches will start at 12:30 p.m. with the championship matches set to start after the Parade of Athletes at 3 p.m. 2013-2014 |
