Post has awards night
VFW Post 4902 held their awards night Saturday, March 15 at the Keuterville Parish Hall. In the education contests Kim Schumacher was named teacher of the year. Nicole Wemhoff was the Voice of Democracy first place winner and also took third in the District competition. Chaye Uptmor was second and Sarah Chmelik was third. In the Patriot’s Pen competition Anna Kaschmitter took first place with Owen Anderson second and Jessie Sonnen third. Schumacher and the three Patriot’s Pen winners were unable to attend due to conflicts but the 3 VOD winners were there and Wemhoff was asked to give her speech. In the Post awards Roger Burgess, Kelvin Davis, Henry DeShiell, Pepper Harman, Pat Madden and Dale McElroy were awarded 5 year pins. Gary Hattrup, Monte Schmidt and Vern Sonnen were awarded 15 year pins. Roy Arnzen received his 20 year pin. Eugene McHugh received his 25 year pin and Richard Currin and Frank Schober their 45 year pins. Mark Tacke, Vince Poxleitner, Lee Rehder and Anselm Schumacher were recognized as the only surviving World War II veterans in the Post |
