Prairie 1 0 1 0 2 0 0— 4 6 3 Genesee 0 5 0 0 4 1 x—10 10 2 This was a non-league game because C.V. and Kamiah went together for softball which pushes them up to the 2-A level. Only 5 batters reached base against Holthaus who allowed 3 walks and a hit batsman. The other batter to reach came on a fielder’s choice. Meanwhile Prairie wasn’t exactly pounding the ball themselves but took advantage of 6 walks, a hit batsman and 3 errors along with their 7 singles. Wilson led off the game with a walk and stole second. Holthaus beat out a bunt single which sent Wilson to third. Holthaus then stole second. A wild pitch scored Wilson and sent Holthaus to third and another wild pitch scored Holthaus. Later in the inning Natasha Gimmeson doinked a ball off the end of her bat that got past shortstop for a hit. She reached second when the second baseman dropped the throw on Kylie Tidwell’s grounder. Gimmeson wound up on third on the play and scored on another wild pitch to make it 3-0. In the second inning Jessica Kaschmitter opened the inning with a single but was stranded on first. In the third inning Danly and Uhlorn each walked to open the inning with Danly scoring on Gimmeson’s second hit of the game. Tidwell followed with a little looper that fell in for a hit behind third base to load the bases. After an out a wild pitch scored Uhlorn. Kaschmitter then walked to reload the bases. Another wild pitch scored Gimmeson. Kellie Heitman then walked to again load the bases. Wilson then hit a grounder to second with the field throwing the ball past the first baseman. 2 runs scored on the play. Heitman scored on another wild pitch which moved Wilson to second. Wilson moved to third on the play as the catcher’s throw back to the plate to try and catch Heitman got away for an error. Wilson then tagged up and scored on Holthaus’ foul pop-out as the first baseman made the play but had to run a long way to make the catch. Prairie added a couple of extra runs in the fourth as Gimmeson was hit by pitch with 1 out. Tidwell picked up a base hit and Sarah Seubert, pinchhitting for Hanna Ross, walked to load the bases. Heitman singled up the middle to score Gimmeson and Tidwell and make it 12-0. In addition to the 3 walks and hit batter mentioned earlier, Holthaus had 9 strikeouts. In the fourth inning she tied a record by striking out the side on just 9 pitches. Prairie had 7 hits in the game, all singles. Gimmeson had 2 singles and an RBI and Tidwell also had a pair of singles. Heitman had a single and 2 RBI while Holthaus had a single and 1 RBI and Kaschmitter had a single.
