Patrons of District #242 Tuesday, May 20, is the levy election for the 2014-2015 school year. We ask for support in the continuation of our academic and extracurricular programs. Cottonwood School District is proud of the fine staff that we have and the work they do to promote academic success in this district. Investing in our youth is the answer to the continued success of our community. Our local schools are the lifeblood of our community. Opportunities: Junior High students take Algebra I and English I receiving transcripted high school credit Variety of elective opportunities in Digital Media, Business, Art Design, Agriculture Sciences, Medical, Music, Drama and Foreign Language 5 medical courses available 3 with certification Technical Prep courses with college transcripted credit - no cost 11 dual credit courses offered- 32 credits available at $65 per credit Center for Discovery after school program provided by a Century 21 Grant Numerous field trips, music festivals, student organization competitions, spelling bee and Knowledge Bowl Safe and Drug Free programs Jr/Sr high school sports programs including volleyball, football, basketball, wrestling, baseball, softball, and track Sports programs for youth through community support Our Accomplishments: Prairie Jr/Sr High 5-Star School Prairie Elementary 4 Star School - Named a Distinguished Elementary School by State Board of Education 95.5% attendance district wide 65 students enrolled in Technical Prep Courses Students enrolled in 146 dual credit courses Seniors entering college as 2nd year students Girls and Boys state championships State winners in student organization groups ACT composite above state average Elementary Open House participation 70% with fall parent-teacher conference attendance at 88% Jr/Sr High Showcase Night participation 84% Please show your support on Tuesday, May 20, by voting. Our levy amount of $350,000 is $37,000 less than last year’s amount. Passage of this levy will decrease the current payment by approximately .28 per $1,000. The tax bill on land valued at $150,000 will decrease by approximately $42.00. The polls are open from 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Your polling place is determined by where you vote in the general election with locations in Ferdinand, Greencreek, Cottonwood, and Keuterville.
