Hot
air balloon ride
On Sunday, June 22, Connie Schumacher went to Boise to meet up with her sister, Debbie Kaylor, for a Hot Air Balloon ride. We took off at 7 a.m. from the Fairgrounds in Boise and landed at 7:55 a.m. in Garden City. In that length of time we traveled approximately 4½ miles. We were 1,050 feet in the air at our highest point. The basket we were in held 8 people. The balloon itself is 8½ stories high and would hold 185,000 basketballs. The power of the burner that is used is equal to 165,000 barbecue grills. The basket and the balloon filled with air weighs 5,000 lbs. No two flights are alike because you are at the mercy of the wind. The pilot cannot steer the balloon as they can only control the balloon in an up and down movement to obtain different wind directions. We went through Boise Hot Air Inc. Bruce and Andrea Patterson, owner/pilot, can be reached at 208-941-2625 or by email at boisehotair@gmail.com. Their website is boiseballoon.com We had a great ride and would definitely go again.
