Scouts
spend week at Camp Easton
Boy Scout Troop 638 attended Camp Easton this year near Coeur d’Alene from July 27 to August 2. It was their first time to attend this week-long camp. We were able to connect with Troops 4070 and 4067 from Sedro-Woolley, Washington. The Berdoy family came from the Washington area and it worked out great for us to meet their past Boy Scout troop at camp this year. Camp Easton specializes in water sports. Activities included paddle boarding, kayaking, water skiing, tubing behind a ski boat, sailing, mile swim and more. Also some of the boys did shotgun, nature, mammal study, fishing and chess just to name a few. Kevin Tillinghast, Blaze Berdoy, Anthony Karel, Hunter Chaffee, Carson Schmidt and Tate Berdoy earned all their merit badges. The highlight for the boys during free time was to climb the Summit, a large climbing wall on one side and a slide on the other, not to mention the oversized water trampoline. The polar bear swim at 6 a.m. was actually warm. The tomahawk throwing was something different to try. The staff couldn’t believe we were all “sticking it” as they called it. On Friday night the skits were very entertaining for the families. If you’ve never heard the song “Cows with Guns,” it is hilarious. The boys also did a service project and participated in closing flag ceremony. Thank you to all our scouting families, the community and new friends in Washington.
