Lady
Pirates split 2 league matches
The Prairie Lady Pirates had two league matches this past week, losing in 3 games at Troy and then winning in 3 games over Lapwai at Cottonwood. Much like the match at Genesee earlier, Prairie played the host team tough but couldn’t push through to claim a win in even one of the games. In JV action Prairie lost to Troy while the C team won. The match earlier at Lapwai saw the Pirates fall behind 1 game to 2 and rally to win in 5 games. Kayla Schumacher had 13 kills while Shayla VonBargen had 6. Hailey Danly had 8 aces and 18 assists. Prairie is now 8-2 overall and 5-2 in league play. The JV team also beat Lapwai all 3 games.
Prairie hosted an eight team JV volleyball tournament at the High School on Saturday, September 20th and came away with a First Place victory, after defeating Clearwater Valley in two, then defeating Potlatch in two games. They then met up with the Troy Trojans and battled hard to take the match in three. They were awarded "Sole Survivor" t-shirts for their first place title. Lady Pirates at Genesee tourney The Prairie Lady Pirates will be competing in the 2014 Pea & Lentil Spike-Off at Genesee this Saturday, Oct. 4. Prairie will be in Pool B with Pomeroy, Timberlake and Colton. The tournament action starts at 8 a.m. with Prairie playing Colton in the second match of the day at approximately 9 a.m. They get a match off then play Timberlake and Pomeroy in back to back matches. After the round-robin matches are done there will be crossovers against the other pool to determine the champion and consolation winners.
