is employee of the month
Kelly Sheppard, Communications Clerk for the Cottonwood Clinic was chosen as the October Employee of the Month for St. Mary’s Hospital. Kelly began working for SMH in April of 2004. “Kelly goes beyond the call of duty on a daily basis,” commented a co-worker. “She comes to work early and doesn’t leave until she has her work done. She is very particular and wants everything she does to be perfect or it isn’t good enough for her. She takes great pride in her job.” Kelly’s job responsibilities include; scanning all documents into patient’s charts, scanning in account payables, extracting faxes and checking letters dictated by the doctors. “I joined a club in high school called “Future Nurses of America” and went to nursing homes after school to volunteer; I fed the patients, read to them, took them for walks, etc.,” commented Kelly. I fell in love with them, I knew then that I wanted to work in the medical field and I worked at Tri-State for twenty years prior to coming to SMH.” “I like everything about my job; it is hard work, but yet so much fun,” replied Kelly when asked what she likes the most about her job. “I may not work face to face with the patients, but I love hearing the girls up front greet them every day with so much kindness and compassion, it makes me smile.” When not working, Kelly enjoys outdoor activities; hunting, camping, 4-wheeling and snowmobiling. She also loves to read and do crossword puzzles. Kelly’s family includes her husband Jake, three daughters; Brooke (Rob), Lezley (Dan) and Mattisyn and one son, Logan. She also has seven grandchildren; Denver, Damon, Brea, Brittin, Trevor, Jena and Matt. To round out her family she has three spoiled pets; Remi, Jayne and Baxter. “I came here as a stranger,” said Kelly. “I did not know a soul, but Collette Schaeffer took me under her wing and before long I had a whole new family. |
