Conference set for Jan. 6
The eleventh annual North Central Idaho Grazing Conference will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at the Williams Conference Center on the campus of Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston. The conference begins at 8:00 a.m. with a trade show featuring pasture and range equipment and supplies. At 9:00 a.m. the presentations will begin. The morning session will begin with a presentation on training cattle to eat weeds by Kathy Voth.Kathy operates Livestock for Landscapes out of Loveland, Colorado and gives presentations all over the United States on how to teach cattle to eat weeds. The afternoon session will begin at 1:00 p.m. with presentations by Nelle Murray, Asotin County Weed Control Coordinator and Stephen VanVleet, WSU Extension Educator in Whitman County. Their presentations will cover information on how to control annual weeds using both chemical and bio-control methods. The afternoon session will conclude with the popular Producer’s Perspective. This year a panel of fours peakers will discuss their management strategies. Drew Leitch, Mart Thompson and Kevin Seitz will discuss cover crop grazing and Shelbie Sigler with Hillco Technologies will talk about round baling cereal straw behind the combine. Everyone is invited to attend the conference. Cost of the conference is $15 if you pre-register by December 26th. Cost at the door is $20. Registration includes lunch which will be served at noon.
