Three
qualify for State
Three wrestlers qualified for state from the Prairie wrestling team, two as district champions, Saturday, Feb. 21 at the District 1-2 wrestling meet at Wallace. Kellie Heitman was the district champion at 106 lbs. For the second straight year she was the only competitor in her bracket. She takes an 8-6 record into the state tournament and will open against Tucker Clark of Declo who has a 19-14 record. They are seeded 8th and 9th with the winner likely facing the #1 seed in the bracket. Dally Ratcliff was the district champion at 132 lbs. as he pinned Cody Edwards of St. Maries in the championship match. He takes a 16-6 record into the state tournament and is seeded 5th. He will face Chase Peterson of Soda Springs in his opening match at state. Peterson is 12-23 on the season. Jace Perrin took third at District in the 160 lb. bracket be edging Taylor Roy of Clearwater Valley 7-6 in the third place match. He takes a 7-16 record into the state tournament and will face #5 seeded Zach Anderson of Ririe who is 19-6 on the season. The state wrestling meet will be held Feb. 27-28 at Holt Arena in Pocatello. Wrestling action starts at 9:30 a.m. Mountain Time on Friday morning.
