Hospitals name new Chief Administrative Officer
Matthew Forge will begin his duties as the new Chief Administrative Office for St. Mary’s Hospital on March 30th.  Matthew Forge. He is coming to SMH from St. Luke’s Health System in Boise where he was the Practice Manager for St. Luke’s Clinic-Internal Medicine (SLIM).  He was responsible for the daily operations of six internal medicine outpatient clinics servicing forty-six providers, including thirty-five physicians and eleven advances practice clinicians. Forge is originally from Lewiston and started his healthcare career at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center.
“I was drawn to this area because my graduate education emphasized rural healthcare, something I am very passionate about,” remarked Forge.  “Coupled with my deep rooted love for this region, and the people of this region, I believe St. Mary’s and the Camas Prairie communities give me a perfect opportunity to make a difference and be part of a great place.  I am so thankful and happy to be joining the great team here. I envision St. Mary’s as being a focal point in helping to drive the community and region into a healthy, prosperous, and sustainable future.  I am very impressed with where St. Mary’s is positioned and the strong support the organization has within the community.  I am excited to help continually build upon that strong foundation.”
As the CAO of SMH, Forge will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the hospital including; providing instructional leadership to department managers, developing and implementing the hospital’s strategic plan, reviewing administrative policies, developing and implementing budgets, supervising marketing efforts and preparing financial reports.
“I have been interested and passionate about working with providers, and others, to build healthy communities for a long time,” commented Forge when asked what drove him to go into the health administration field.  “I was set on the healthcare field even prior to college.  This passion was rooted in the fact that my mother has spent her career in healthcare administration and I have seen the positive impact she has been able to have within our community.  This all made the healthcare route an easy decision.”
Forge’s hobbies include basketball, fly-fishing, hunting, traveling and walking his Brittany Spaniel-Piper June.
“My personal goal is to become an active member and leader within the Camas Prairie for years to come, maybe help some kids with their jump shot, and find a big mule deer, along the way,” said Forge.
