DUE TO A CONFLICT IN SCHEDULING, THE LIBRARY WILL NOT BE HOSTING AN OPEN HOUSE NEXT SATURDAY, APRIL 18. The event will be re-scheduled at a later date. Several new books have arrived and are now on the shelf and ready to provide some excellent reading. One on the best seller list is "The Girl on the Train" by Paula Hawkins. It is considered as "a book that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives." Cleaver structure and expert pacing will keep you perched on the edge of your seat, but it's Hawkin's deft, empathetic characterization that will leave you pondering it's harrowing, thought-provoking story about the power of memory and the danger of envy. Also among new arrivals are Gideon's Gift, Paris Match, Ruin and Rising and Seattle Slew. While sorting a box of donated books, a well kept copy of "The World's Best Fairy Tales", ( Readers Digest publication) It is a true collection of 769 stories that have been replaced by more modern versions or eliminated from publication. This is an opportunity to read some excellent old bedtime stories to your children. The following was submitted Library Board Member Beverly Christensen's name on it as a Library Board Member. Book lovers lost a wonderful writer of historical fiction and literature last week. Ivan Doig chronicled life in Montana from the pioneer days, through the depression years and into modern day, often drawing on his life experiences and family stories. His writing was so descriptive you could imagine the colorful characters and the awesome scenery of that era. The library has several of his books and more can be available if you should become addicted to his stories. There is a trilogy of life as experienced by early pioneers and continuing through the next generations with Dancing at the Rascal Fair, English Creek and Ride with me, Maria Montana. You will find the books educational and entertaining, well worth turning off the electronics and experiencing a simpler way of life. |
