Although the Prairie track team did not have a state champion for the first time in several years they did bring home 8 state medals from the State Track Meet, which was held at Middleton Friday and Saturday, May 15-16. Prairie’s top finishers were Mykaela McWilliams in the 300 hurdles and the 4x400 relay team which each earned a second place finish. McWilliams took second in the 300 hurdles with a time of 48.83. She broke her own school record set last year at state with a 48.22 clocking in the prelims. She also broke Tabitha Sonnen’s school record of 15.75 in the 100 hurdles with a 15.64 clocking as she placed 3rd in that event. Sonnen’s record was set in 2007. The 4x400 team of Delaney Uhlenkott, Chaye Uptmor, Shayla VonBargen and McWilliams placed 2nd with a time of 4:20.83.
