is Border Days Queen
Idaho County Free Press That dream came true for Poxleitner when she was chosen as queen last year and has spent the time since then representing Border Days at a variety of parades, luncheons and rodeos. Poxleitner is the daughter of Glenn and Loretta Poxleitner of Keuterville and has a sister, Ellea, 14, and a brother, Morgan, 10. Her maternal grandmother is Rose Mangini of Grangeville. Poxleitner will be a junior this fall at Prairie Junior Senior High School in Cottonwood where she is active in Prairie League, student council, Future Farmers of America and track. She is also a member of Keuterville Livestock 4-H Club and is sponsored by Idaho Forest Group. “This experience has meant the world to me,” she said. “I have learned so much about myself, taking responsibility, working toward agreement when I have different views and stepping out of my comfort zone to talk to people. There is always a different challenge to conquer!” She is involved in her church youth group and has volunteered at Syringa Thrift Shop and various other endeavors. Poxleitner said she would encourage other young ladies to try out for royalty. “It’s a fabulous rodeo to promote, and it’s such a great experience that has made me a stronger and more confident woman,” she said. When she graduates from high school, Poxleitner would like to attend college and work toward her veterinary degree at the University of Idaho and Washington State University. Her favorite song is She’s Country and she likes the group Florida Georgia Line. The events she enjoys the most at the rodeo are barrel racing and bull riding.

Madden is Border Days Princess Idaho County Free Press Madden is a senior and is completing her education on-line. She formerly attended Grangeville High School where she was a cheerleader in 2012 and 2013. She is the daughter of Jim and Charlene Madden of Grangeville and has two siblings: Philip, 19 and Alyssa, 16. Her grandparents are Nancy Thompson and Charlie Thompson of Grangeville and Becky and Jim Madden on Cottonwood. Madden is in her 10th year in Triple Bar Drill Team where she has been a first leader. She served as Triple Bar Drill Team Queen in 2012 and was also queen of the Winchester Rodeo in 2013. “This has been a great experience for me and I know it would be for anyone who tried it and is interested in gaining new experience and knowledge, “while still having fun,” she said. Following graduation Madden hopes to attend culinary art school and obtain a degree in baking and pastry. Madden is employed by Grangeville Flower and Gift Shop and imprint designs. Her favorite singer is Sam Smith and the event she most enjoys watching at the rodeo is the wild horse race.
