One more day of Summer Reading for this year. It has been a very huge success with 17 children enjoying the stories shared by last week’s “Hero” Registered Nurse, Kathy Seubert. Learning the different responsibilities of a nurse and how important they are when someone is ill left a big impression on the children. Each “Hero” presentation throughout the program has been very educational to the youngsters and our heartfelt thanks goes out to each of them for taking time from their busy schedules to share their stories with these young children. The children who continue to visit the library and check out books each week will be recognized at the end of summer vacation. Books read during the summer reading weeks will be counted also and awards will be given at that time. So kids, continue to visit the library and see what we have planned for you. Among newest arrivals are two new books that should provide excellent reading to our patrons. Written in the mid 1950’s, GO SET A WATCHMAN imparts a fuller, richer understanding and appreciation of author, Harper Lee. It is an unforgettable novel of wisdom, humanity, passion, humor, and effortless precision, a profoundly affecting work of art that is both wonderfully evocative of another era and relevant to our own times. It not only confirms the enduing brilliance of To Kill a Mockingbird, but also serves as its essential companion, adding depth, context, and new meaning to an American classic. For you historians, “THOMAS JEFFERSON THE ART of POWER” a biography of Thomas Jefferson and according to Gordon S. Wood, probably the best single volume biography of Jefferson ever written. It claims #1 New York Times Bestseller and Winner of the Pulitzer Prize. Author is Jon Meacham. The library has a good selection of new books and more are being purchased each month. If you have a request we will try to get the book for you. If you have not visited the library recently you will be amazed by the improvements that have taken place and the selections of new and popular books. Come in and check us out.
