gives back to hospital
So far in 2015; the SMH Foundation Board has approved giving over $88,000 in funds to the hospital. With these funds St. Mary’s has been able to purchase new lights and scales for the emergency room, new radios for the ambulance crew, a TV for the ultra sound room so OB patients can view their babies and literature for the Alzheimer’s group with the bulk of the money going towards purchasing new colonoscopes. These funds have come from various sources; the foundation’s annual golf tournaments, the Mardi Gras dinner/dances, memorials and community and employee donations. “In a community hospital such as ours, the needs are always great and the Foundation and our many supports play an important role in securing the equipment our hospital needs to be the best it can be,” stated Shelli Schumacher, SMH Foundation Board Member. “Through the generosity of the people from our area and the other members of the Foundation Board it has made being on the Foundation Board a real pleasure.” “I would like to thank our Foundation Board for all they do for SMH,” said Cheri Holthaus Foundation Director. “This group works hard to make sure we spend and/or invest the foundation’s money wisely, not to mention the hours they put in attending meetings and helping out at the golf tournaments and Mardi Gras events.” “It has been exciting for me as a board member to be able to put the community’s donations to work in such a positive manner,” commented Theresa Uptmor; SMH Foundation Board Member. “It was especially gratifying to help purchase the new colonoscopes for the surgery department, as I know from experience how a life in our community can be saved with just the one procedure.
