Tidwell
6th at Moscow meet
Kylie Tidwell finished 6th in the varsity women’s race at the Bob Weisel Moscow Invitational Crosscountry meet held Saturday, Oct. 3 at Phillips Farm State Park north of Moscow. Tidwell got off to a slow start as she was in the middle of the pack after the first loop of the course through the start finish area but was conserving energy for the big hill coming up. She came off the hill in the top 10 and in a sprint to the finish just edged out Bonners Ferry’s Ada Bonnell to finish 6th in 24:55.85. Leah Higgins and Sydney Bruner competed in the JV girls run with Higgins finishing 4th in 27:05.17. That would have been good enough for 15th in the varsity run. Bruner finished 8th in about 30 minutes. Prairie had 4 runners start the JV boys race but only 3 were able to finish. Grant Gehring placed a respectable 10th in the race in a time of 23:22.84. James Villamoor was 15th in 24:45.89 and Ryan Glimp was 25th in 27:34.84. Anthony Karel was running in the top 10 during the hill climb but his surgically repaired knee gave him problems on the downhill side and he had to withdraw. Next scheduled action for the team is the Regional meet which is set for Thursday, Oct. 22 at Farragut State Park north of Coeur d’Alene. The girls varsity run is set to start at 2 p.m. with the boys varsity at 2:30. A girls and boys combined JV run is set for 3 p.m. Farragut State Park is also the site of the State Meet set for Saturday, Oct. 31. The start of the JV boys race. From left for Prairie are James Villamoor, Grant Gehring, Anthony Karel and Ryan Glimp.
