Redneck Review
No. 33—12/7/15
Wow! A look at the news the past several weeks makes one think about
the future and what it might hold for us and the world!
Mass slayings like the one in Paris weeks ago seem to show up in the
news almost daily in seems; recently in Oregon and California and other
places around the world!
Unnerving also is that one of the suspects in a recent mass slaying
was a woman and an American citizen who evidently espoused the notion of
Jihad, and radical Islam!
Also, beheadings and other atrocities by ISIS have given rise to a
migration of people from the Middle East, causing concern, even here in
Idaho, over the possible threat of large numbers of fugitives wanting to
escape the terror at home. Even governors of several states are moving
to restrict or prohibit this migration!
And of course, economic conditions in China, Japan, Europe, and even
here, point to more national debt to bolster unpredictable and sagging
economies!
And on and on is reported the bad news, making one ask... will it ever
stop? Or more important, can a single individual do anything about it?
Back in RNR #8, we cited the example of the impact one student had
on a giant tug of war going on between classes at Prairie during halftime
of the Powder Puff football game that year. The sides were stalemated,
neither side able to budge the other..., until the late arrival of a student
slowly turned the tide!! So one person does count!!
And as claimed in Review 7, PRAYER is a tool that is available to all
wanting to do their part! Since 80% plus of Americans claim to be Christian,
the possible answer might just be that, a nationwide turning to PRAYER
to solve our problems!
Each Christian denomination has its own prayer style, and for Catholics,
it might be of interest to recall events which happened at Fatima , Portugal,
in 1917. Over a period of six monthly meetings, it is claimed that Mary,
the mother of Jesus, appeared to three children, asking for prayer and
sacrifice for a world involved in WW1 at the time. And on July 13, 1917,
Mary promised an October miracle that would convince everyone!
Many scoff at the claim, but on Oct 13, some 70,000 people gathered
in a driving rain to witness the promised miracle. Multiple books and internet
locations cite a spinning, pulsating sun appearing to approach earth, witnessed
by all there, and reported on by secular newspapers miles away. The terrified
witnesses also suddenly discovered that the ground around and all clothing
had instantly dried up. The facts that so many had gone there in pouring
rain, claimed to see the sun pulsate and start to fall, and that the soaked
ground and clothes dried up instantly, accounts of which appeared in several
secular newpapers, testifies to the validity of the children's claims!
And what did Mary ask? Prayer daily (for Catholics, a rosary), sacrifice,
and a special service, (a Mass), the five first Saturdays each month. Also,
requested was the special consecration of Russia by the Papacy. The promise?
World peace if the requests are heeded! But future wars and the spread
of atheism if not! 98 years later??? Hmm?!?!
