Lady Pirates are 4-0 on the week
The Prairie Lady Pirates won 4 games this past week, winning at Genesee 66-58 Tuesday, Jan. 12, holding off the Lewiston JV 60-56 at Cottonwood Thursday, Jan. 14, winning big over Potlatch at Cottonwood 67-26 Saturday, Jan. 16 and finally winning at Asotin, Monday, Jan. 18, 76-36.
At Genesee
The league game at Genesee was a shootout between Prairie’s Kylie Tidwell and Genesee’s Kaleigh Ranisate. Each player made five 3-pointers, which may be a school record for the Prairie girls team, with Tidwell scoring 28 and Ranisate 26.Kylie Tidwell shots for one of her 5 made 3-pointers at Genesee. We believe that may be a school record.
In the first quarter Ranisate had 8 points and Courtney Burk 6 as Genesee took an 11-17 lead.
Tidwell scored 5 in the first quarter but got blistering hot in the second as she hit all five shots she attempted including a pair of 3 pointers to help Prairie erase an 11-19 deficit and turn it into a 26-22 lead on Tidwell’s fifth basket of the quarter at the 2:00 mark.
Prairie wound up with a 28-26 lead at the half.
The Pirates were able to hold the lead through the third quarter as Tidwell added another 9 points, hitting 3 of 4 shots in the quarter.
Prairie led 43-39 after 3 quarters.
Genesee took back the lead in the fourth as they scored the first 5 points but a 15 foot jumper by Angela Wemhoff and a 3-point play by Shayla VonBargen put Priarie back on top 48-44.
Genesee took back the lead as Ranisate connected on her fourth and fifth 3-pointers of the game and held a 51-56 lead with 4:01 to play.
A basket by Hailey Danly and  free throws by Chaye Uptmor cut the lead to 1 at 55-56.
Genesee answered with a free throw but Uptmor put Prairie back on top when she converted a 3-point play with 3:12 left.
A steal by Danly led to her scoring a lay-up and on Genesee’s next possession Danly had another steal which led to a pair of free throws that put Prairie up 62-57 with 2:32 left.
Ranisate scored a free throw but Prairie scored the game’s final 4 points at the line to win by 8. Prairie outscored Genesee 11-1 in the final 3:15 of the game.
In addition to Tidwell’s career high 28, Wemhoff, Uptmor and Danly each scored 11 with VonBargen adding 5 points.
Prairie dominated on the boards 47-29 with Wemhoff grabbing 15 to lead the Pirates. 
Danly had 5 steals and 9 assists while Wemhoff added 4 assists.
Each team had 22 turnovers in the game.
Prairie was 20 for 58 from the field, 34%, and 20 for 33 at the line, 61%. Genesee was 19 for 44 from the field, 43%, and 12 for 24 at the line, 50%.
Prairie routed Genesee in the JV game 67-19.

Vs. Lewiston JV
Prairie made it a season sweep over the Lewiston JV but had to come from behind in the fourth quarter for a 60-56 win.
Prairie led 15-14 after one quarter and the game was tied at 25-all at the half.
Lewiston made their move in the third quarter by outscoring Prairie 11-19 to take a 36-44 lead into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth Danly made 3 steals that were turned into baskets and helped Prairie come from behind to pull out the win.
Tidwell scored 17 to again lead the Pirates in scoring with Danly adding 15, Wemhoff 12, Uptmor 11, Josie Peery 3 and Talyss Lustig 2. 
VonBargen missed the game with a bout of the flu.
Peery had 10 rebounds while Danly had 8 of Prairie’s 22 steals in the game.
Prairie’s JV team also won as they outscored the Lewiston sophomores 47-13.

Vs. Potlatch
Prairie had an easy win over Potlatch at Cottonwood, 67-26.

Wemhoff and Danly each scored 9 points in that 23-0 run.
Potlatch finally got on the board with a basket at the 1:32 mark. Peery added a pair of free throws to make it 25-2 after 1 quarter.
Prairie backed off on the defensive intensity and Potlatch actually outscored Prairie early in the second quarter 4-11. 
Prairie finished the half though with a 10-3 run to take at 41-16 lead at the break.
Wemhoff added 7 points in the quarter for 16 first half points, equaling that of Potlatch’s team.
The two teams traded scores for a bit in the third but then Prairie took off on a 13-0 run with Lustig, Tidwell and Peery scoring 4 each and Danly a free throw as they took a 61-19 lead.
Potlatch scored to make it 61-21 heading to the fourth quarter, which was played in running clock mode.
Prairie’s JV swing players got the bulk of the fourth quarter playing time.
Wemhoff was Prairie’s leading scorer with 16 points with Danly adding 15, Peery 10, Uptmor 8, Lustig 7, Tidwell 4, Leah Higgins 3 and Sydney Bruner and Kristyna Krogh 2 each. VonBargen again sat out due to illness 
Potlatch had nobody score more than 6 points.
Prairie dominated on the boards 46-29 with Danly pulling down 10 and Uptmor 8.
Danly added 6 steals and 4 assists while Tidwell had 3 steals and 5 assists. Uptmor and Wemhoff each added 3 steals.
Prairie was 28 for 63 from the field, 44%, and 10 for 16 at the line, 63%. Potlatch was 11 for 51 from the field, 22%, and 1 for 3 at the line, 33%.
The JV game was the closest of the 4 games played in the boys/girls quad Saturday as Prairie won 41-24.
It was the only one that didn’t feature a running clock at any time in the fourth quarter.
Potlatch took the early lead at 2-3 with a 3-point play but Prairie outscored them 14-4 the rest of the first quarter with Leah Higgins scoring 8 points.
The second unit took over in the second quarter and Sarah Ross scored 8 to help Prairie take a 26-12 lead at the half.
Prairie couldn’t buy a basket in the third quarter as they hit just 1 of 13 shots. That one basket came from Sierah Poxleitner, Fortunately their defense held Potlatch to just 5 points as they took a 28-17 lead into the fourth quarter.
Prairie found the hoop again in the fourth quarter as Kristyna Krogh, Kendra Duclos and Delaney Uhlenkott each scored 4 points to help hold off the Loggers.
Leah Higgins, Krogh and Ross each scored 8 points to lead the Pirates with Duclos and Uhlenkott scoring 4 each, Sydney Bruner, Jordyn Higgins, Madison Pecarovich and Poxleitner 2 each and Theresa Wemhoff 1.
Prairie had a 45-40 edge on the boards led by Leah Higgins who had 14 rebounds.
Uhlenkott and Bruner had 3 steals each and Wemhoff had 3 assists.
Prairie was 15 for 58 from the field, 26%, and 11 for 22 at the line, 50%. Potlatch was 7 for 37 from the field, 19%, and 9 for 24 at the line, 38%.

At Asotin
The final game of the past week was another rout as Prairie had all five starters score in double figures in a 40-point win, 76-36.
Prairie came out firing as they scored 27 points in the first quarter to jump out to a 27-10 lead. They made it 47-17 by halftime.
They backed off on the defensive intensity in the second half but still outscored Asotin in each of the final two quarters, 17-12 in the third and 12-7 in the fourth.
Tidwell led the scoring with 15 points with Uptmor scoring 14, Danly and Lustig 13 each and Wemhoff 12. Peery added 6 points, Leah Higgins 2 and Bruner 1. VonBargen apparently was still sitting out.
Wemhoff and Lustig had 8 rebounds each, Tidwell had 6 steals and Wemhoff had 7 assists.
Prairie is now 13-4 on the season and 7-1 in league play.
The JV team had an even more lopsided win as they beat Asotin 64-10.
