Another look at GLOBAL WARMING and CLIMATE CHANGE! The claim here at the very start, is that it is a contrived argument! So the question is, by whom and why?
To start, witness the hundreds of graphs which can be called up on Google, simply by typing in "Ice Age Temperature Graphs." Admittedly, there are graphs favoring global warming, but most are for relatively short periods of time, whereas the over whelming number over longer periods of time show climate change as a natural recurring thing, going back hundreds and thousands of years. Click on "all graphs," and you will find the hundreds mentioned last week, all very consistent in showing the present period is very normal when compared to the distant past!
Cited last week also was the 31,072 scientists who years ago claimed that the scientific evidence leading to the Kyoto, Japan agreement on global warming was flawed! This PETITION PROJECT signed by those thousands probaby had much to do with the U.S. refusing to sign it in 1997, and dropping out completely in 2001. It is also interesting that the computer simulator developed by a Los Alamos Lab along with Montana State U., was used in the 1960's to convince teachers that carbon based fuels like gas and oil would be totally exhausted by 2000, and that we had to cut back our population growth or cut consumption to avoid a total disaster! Curiously, though the lab does specialize in computer simulations, not a trace of this 1960 simulator could I find there! Had it not been used in Boise and at Prairie, I would have had my own doubts!
For a keener insight into the politics involved, consider the following quotation I received just lately as an email. A "Noggin Nugget!": 
"Horrorfying!!!...Please read to the end!
"The Arctic Ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot, according to a report to the Commerce Dept. yesterday from the Consulate at Bergen, Norway.
"Reports from fishermen, seal hunters and explorers all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard of temperatures in the Artic zone. Exploration expeditions report that scarcely any ice has been met as far north as 81degrees 29". Soundings to a depth of 3100 meters showed the gulf stream still very warm. Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones, said the report, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely disappeared.
"Very few seals and no white fish are found in the eastern Arctic, while vast shoals of herring and smelts which have never before ventured so far north, are being encountered...Within a few years it is predicted that due to the ice melt the sea will rise and make most coast cities uninhabitable."
Woops! I must apologize! The email continues, and I quote exactly!; "I neglected to mention that this report was from November 2,1922, as reported by the AP and published in the Washington Post - 93 years ago. It must have been caused by Model T Ford emissions, or possibly from horse and cattle flatulence!"
Could it be possible that the matter involves just another government power grab?

Addendum: RNR Readers! The reference to the book in my article containing the 31,000 plus global warning petition signers can be better verified by doing a google search "Global Warming petition signers!
There is an easily referenced web site that contains the wording of the petition, and the list of 31,487 American scientists who signed it, including 9029 PhDs.  I quote from the petition on my screen in front of me "We urge the U.S. government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in Kyoto, Japan in 1997....There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide,...is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic  heating of the earth's atmosphere..."  
Doing this internet search is more original than the copy of it in the book I mentioned!! 
I am still convinced that the entire matter is an excuse to involve more government regulation!!
