Bowl team to host meet
The Prairie High School Knowledge Bowl Team will be hosting the Monthly Meet for our region on Monday, March 7th at 6:30 p.m. in the Prairie Junior Senior High School Cafeteria. Teams from seven area schools will be in attendance. Typical turnout is 14-22 teams of 5 or 6 members each team. A meet consists of 3 round of 20 questions with a big Venture question at the end of each round that includes multiple questions and answers about a select topic. Questions cover many subjects – History, Math, Science, Music, Current Events, Politics and Sports Trivia – to name a few. We are in need of Table Judges for our meet. A Table Judge holds up a sign if your team answers the questions correctly. You will be given the correct answers after students have time to answer. Table judges would need to be at the PHS cafeteria by 6:20 p.m. and stay until the competition ends - around 8:30 p.m. Recently, our Prairie Team traveled to Whitworth University in Spokane to participate in Inland Northwest Science Bowl. The winning team of this event qualifies for the National Science Bowl near Washington DC. The Prairie Team managed to win 2 of 6 of their matches. Most teams were from larger schools in the Inland Northwest. Prairie won matches against Highland of Craigmont and Lake City of Coeur d’Alene. They lost matches to Timberlake High School (by 2 points), Moscow, CDA Charter, and also to Lakeside of Washington. The four teams that Prairie lost to, all made it to the Finals. Prairie managed to score 18 points against CDA Charter, the eventual winning team that qualified for the National Science Bowl.
