Haiti
Mission set for June
Dear Friends in Christ, I am so excited to write to you about our trip to Haiti coming up on June 5th. We have 7 teens, 2 young adults and 4 adults who have worked for 3 years to prepare for this trip. Our teen members are: Ally Hale, Brandon Higgins, Krystin Uhlenkott, Sarah Seubert, Marisa Lustig, Damian Forsmann, and Kyle Tillinghast . Our young adults are Beth Dinning and Amanda Dinning. Our adult leaders are Max Nuxoll, Angela Seubert, Rushelle Forsmann and Debbie Chicane. We will be staying with the “Missionaries of the Poor” on a compound in Cap Haitien. . They are an international monastic order of Brothers dedicated to “Joyful Service with Christ on the Cross” to serve the poorest of the poor. The order was started in 1981 by Father Richard Ho Lung and has now grown to over 500 Brothers around the world. Our group of 13 will be joining with Sharon and Bill Snow to volunteer for 10 days with the Brothers. We will be working on a compound where there is an orphanage with 40 to 50 babies/children, an older boys home, a home for children and adults with HIV, and an elderly home with 160 people. We have been very blessed with this opportunity because the cost for this trip is just our airfare. The Brothers have graciously offered to house and feed us for free. I would like to invite you to join us in returning this generosity with a donation from our parish as a thank you. If you are interested in helping the mission of the Brothers you can make a check out to Saint Mary’s and we will deliver one check to the Superior of the Monastery to continue their work with the poor. Thank you for your love and consideration toward this cause. “Blessed are those who serve the poor.” In Humble Gratitude, Debbie |
