team wins Regional title
Chaye Uptmor in the 800 and Mykaela McWilliams in the 300 hurdles each shaved some time off of school records they already held as they won those events at the Regional Track Meet at Kamiah May 13-14. Uptmor won the 800 in 2:24.46, which broke the record of 2:24.70 she set a couple weeks ago. She also qualified for state by finishing second in the 1600 in 5:51.85 and fifth in the 3200 in 13:20.51. McWilliams won the 300 hurdles in 48.19, breaking the record of 48.22 she set last year. She also won the 100 hurdles in 16.59 and qualified for state by placing fourth in the long jump at 15’1¾”. They led the Prairie girls team to a first place team finish with 102 points. The boys team was tied for 10th with 19 points. Both Uptmor and McWilliams will also go in the 4x400 relay along with Jordyn Higgins and Laney Uhlenkott. They won with a time of 4:23.62. Also qualifying for state as individuals were Uhlenkott with a third in the 200 in 29.10 and a third in the 400 with a time of 1:04.35. Higgins also qualified in the 800 by finishing 5th with a time of 2:38.75. She also placed 12th in the long jump at 12’10”. Kristyna Krogh will go to state in both the 1600 where she finished 5th in 5:58.98 and the 3200 where she finished 4th in 13:09.16. The 4x200 relay team of Theresa Wemhoff, Krista Hess, Higgins and Uhlenkott also qualified for state by placing 2nd in 1:56.19. For the boys team the only state qualifier was Isaiah Shears who placed fourth in the discus at 120’4” in what was his only time competing in that event all season. Shears was also 23rd in the 200 in 26.05 and 26th in the 100 in 12.72. Other girls results: Madison Ulmer finished 1 place shy of qualifying for state with a 6th place in the discus at 91’8”. She was also 22nd in the shot put at 23’8”. Wemhoff placed 7th in the 100 at 14.23. Bailie Gehring was 8th in the discus at 83’4” and 19th in the shot at 23’10”. Emma Gehring was 16th in the shot at 24’10” and 26th in the discus at 58’7”. Maria Schmidt was 28th in the 100 in 15.47. Hess placed 24th in the long jump at 10’11½”. The 4x100 relay team of Wemhoff, Hess, Krogh and Schmidt placed 6th in 58.88. The medley team of Hess, Krogh, Wemhoff and Schmidt placed 6th in 2:11.15. Other boys results: Finishing 1 spot shy of qualifying for state was Sean Spencer in the 1600 with a 6th place finish in 4:48.36. He was also 9th in the 400 in 55.67 and 7th in the 3200 in 11:19.05. Also finishing 1 spot short was Luke Wemhoff with a 6th place finish in the 400 meter final in 55.72. He was also 12th in the 100 in 12.19 and 14th in the 200 in 25.03. Grant Gehring was 10th in the 3200 in 11:52.18, 13th in the 1600 in 5:18.94 and 13th in the 300 hurdles in 52.68. Carson Schmidt was 11th in the discus at 105’11”, tied for 13th in the shot at 34’8” and 44th in the 100 in 13.46. Andrew Everson was tied for 13th in the shot at 34’8”. Caleb McWilliams was 16th in the shot at 34’5” and 14th in the 1600 in 5:19.48. Tucker Hibbard was 22nd in the discus at 81’7” and 36th in the shot at 26’6½”. Drew Dinning was 32nd in the discus at 57’9” and 50th in the 100 in 13.83. Raice Dalgliesh was 17th in the 400 in 59.94 and 19th in the long jump at 16’0”. Ray Zhang was 31st in the 100 in 12.85 and 25th in the 200 in 16.21. Brandon Latimer was 29th in the 400 in 1:08.38, 42nd in the 200 in 30.49 and 51st in the 100 in 13.85. The 4x200 team of Zhang, Dalgliesh, Shears and Gehring placed 6th in 1:43.48. The 4x400 team of Zhang, Dalgliesh, Wemhoff and Spencer was 6th in 3:59.12. The 4x100 team of Latimer, Dinning, McWilliams and Schmidt was 11th in the 54.02.
