is state 800 champion
Chaye Uptmor is a state champion after winning the 800 meter run at the 1-A State Track Meet. The meet was held May 20-21 at Middleton High School. Uptmor won the race in 2:27.87. She also earned 2 other individual medals with a 5th in the 3200 at 12:37.98 and a 6th in the 1600 in 5:52.07. The 3200 time was a personal best. She helped Prairie to a 4th place team finish and a state trophy. Prairie had 39 points as a team. Also earning 3 individual state medals was Mykaela McWilliams. She finished third in both hurdles races with times of 16.59 in the 100 hurdles and 47.83 in the 300 hurdles. She also placed fifth in the long jump with a mark of 15’2”. Uptmor and McWilliams also earned a fourth medal as part of the 4x400 relay team which placed fifth with a time of 4:23.38. Jordyn Higgins and Laney Uhlenkott were also on the 4x400 relay. In other girls events Uhlenkott was 9th in the 400 meter prelims in 1:05.30, just missing out on making the finals. She was also 15th in the 200 prelims in 28.95. Higgins was 9th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:36.51. Kristyna Krogh was 13th in the 3200 in 13:38.96 and 15th in the 1600 in 6:04.96. The 4x200 team of Theresa Wemhoff, Higgins, Krista Hess and Uhlenkott was 7th in 1:57.86. Isaiah Shears, in only his second discus competition, took 10th place with a personal best of 127’0”.
