Royalty signup deadline is July 12
The Idaho County Fair Royalty committee is seeking young ladies ages 14 to 18 interested in participating in the 2016-2017 royalty program. Girls must be going into their sophomore through senior years in high school and be available through the completion of the fair. Deadline for applicants has been extended to July 12. The competition includes (1) contestant picnic sponsored by the 2015-2016 royalty scheduled for August 3rd, (2) a catered luncheon set for August 9th, (3) participation in the fashion show on August 17th and (4) the crowning on August 19th. All contestants are required to attend each one of these events. During the luncheon on August 9th, participants are asked to give a two to three minute speech and will have a personal interview with three judges from outside Idaho County. Candidates must complete an application which is part of the judging, write and present their speech, and be interviewed. The event is open to all young ladies age 14 to 18 in Idaho County to those who participate in Idaho County 4-H. However it is not just for those involved in 4-H, it is a county scholarship program for young ladies who are active in their communities. Starting in 2013, all candidates need to have 2 years of experience with the fair either through 4-H or through entries in open class. The queen is awarded a $450 scholarship and each princes is awarded $350. There is also an expense account to help with clothing, float and other costs during their reign. Current Idaho County Fair Royalty includes: Queen Katrina Frei of Grangeville, 1st Princess Rachel Kelley of Grangeville and 2nd Princess Davi Murphy of Kamiah. Royalty applications can be picked up at the Idaho County Extension office located in the Idaho County Court House or by calling Idaho County Fair Royalty advisor Karla Enneking at 962-3892 or e-mail karlaenneking@gmail.com. Applications can be dropped off at the Extension office or mailed to Karla Enneking at P. O. Box 104, Cottonwood, ID 83522. All applications are due by the extended date of July 12. |
