riders dominate 'Just for the Hill of It' bike ride
Sixty two riders from Central Idaho and sites as far away as Sandpoint and McCall ID, Pomeroy, Ellensburg and Bellevue all in WA, and Orange CA were among the finishers who completed the 13 mile trip up the old Whitebird spiral highway, June 4, Saturday, beginning at 9:00 a.m., and ending with a picnic lunch provided by the hosts back at the starting point to conclude the event. On a very beautiful sunny day, the temperature reached 90 degrees at the lunch provided later, and proved a real challenge for all, with only a few riders choosing to cut the ride short and return to the starting point at the camp ground at Hammer Creek near Whitebird. The hill ride, challenged by bicycle riders from ages 10 to 70, is held annually, and serves as the Hospice's main fund raiser, the organization serving Idaho and Lewis counties, and associated with Syringa hospital in Grangeville. Note that riders one, three, and five following: Erik, Matt, and Taylor were all from Moscow, while #2, Mike was from McCall, and #4, Bill was from Sandpoint!
