Dear youth in Christ, The sun is shining and warmth of the summer is still with us. But the school bells and the cool morning remind us that another season is upon us. We are gearing up for another year of Youth ministry. The month of September will bring with the opportunity for newness in your faith through; prayer, fasting, planning, gathering, playing, and sharing. Please consider joining us on this adventure of youth ministry! We would love to see you and please know, all are welcome! We will begin the month of September with an invitation to our High School youth to meet at the OMG youth room at 6:30 on Sept 7th for Lasagna and prayer. We will gather as a response to our Leadership retreat at Donnelly. Our night will be filled with prayer and planning for the future desires of this group. Please note, all high school youth can attend this session. I would however, highly encourage all youth who attended the Apologhetti camp in July to attend. We need your input and leadership! On Sept. 12 I am sending out an invitation to all adults who are interested in being a part of the Youth Ministry Leadership team to attend a meeting at the OMG youth room at 7:00 p.m. I am encouraging all parents who feel a calling to play a part in this process to attend. I will be calling some of your personally to ask you to attend. I definitely need your help as this group continues to grow. We would have as many as 50 youth last year at some of the events in the youth room, hence any and all adult help is very welcome. Please come to the meeting if the Lord is tapping you on the shoulder. I promise I will not have you do anything you feel uncomfortable doing, most of the time it is just your presence that the youth and I need! On Sept 14th the youth ministry team is hosting a “Back to School” bash at the Church at 6:30 p.m. Food, fire, and fun will be present at this great kick off event. All of the family is invited. On Sept. 24th and 25th we will be doing our 30 Hour Fast at Keuterville from 10:00 a.m. Saturday to 9:00 a.m. on Sunday. We will begin fasting at home on Saturday morning at 3:00 a.m. and continue until 9:00 a.m. on Sunday. You will need to fill out registration forms for the fast and the cost is $20.00 to cover the supplies, donation and shirts. Please fill out your forms and bring them and your registration fee with you. I am in need of parents or parishioners to make breakfast casseroles or cinnamon rolls or bring fruit to the breakfast following the 8:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday the 25th. The parish is invited to join the youth at this breakfast to celebrate the breaking of the fast. Please call the parish office if you can donate a breakfast item. Your help is greatly appreciated. All proceeds from the fast go toward Catholic relief services and World Vision! We will also be collecting money for these causes at each of the Masses! Please support our youth as they fast for the needs of others! On Sept 28th I will be having an informal Haiti team meeting for anyone interested in going on our next mission trip in 2018. Please be present if you are seriously considering this act of service at Haiti. Space is limited so those who are present will be the added our list for the next trip. Thank you for your interest and I look forward to our time together. May the Lord bless all of our kids, young and old as they step through the doors of their schools. May their hearts, hands, and voices reflect kindness and love as they go about their day. May they always know that wherever they go that they carry with them a God who stands strong with them in all situations and will sustain and guide them in all ways, especially when they are fearful or uncertain. We thank you God for always being their, especially when we need you. For this we pray In Christ, Debbie, Tri Parish Youth Coordinator |
