New
program is offered
A new and special form of tai chi is being offered in Cottonwood. Tai chi for arthritis (TCA) was developed by Doctor Paul Lam, a family physician in Sydney, Australia. This program consists of gentle stretches and relaxing movements to alleviate some of the discomfort associated with arthritis as well as improve general health. While the goal of the program is to heighten awareness of this unique exercise program in hopes of providing assistance to those who suffer from arthritis, you don’t have to have arthritis in order to benefit from this form of tai chi. Don Munkers of Cottonwood received certification to teach this tai chi after completing a workshop in Pullman, Washington given by a senior trainer for Dr. Lam. He has been instructing the yoga classes and is proud to expand the yoga program by offering this very special form of exercise. The TCA program started September 7 in the Cottonwood Community Hall. This initial class introduction to tai chi will be free affording participants a chance to evaluate the program without any expense. The session will begin right after yoga class on this date. Additional sessions will start at 7 p.m. each Wednesday. There will be introductory information and remarks but you will have an opportunity to see and try tai chi for arthritis. Wear loose clothing and bring or wear a pair of flat sole shoes. Mark you calendar, plan to attend as there is nothing to lose and everything to gain. For further information or questions contact Munkers at 208-553-5664. |
