Many changes are taking place at the library. At the recent meeting the board welcomed two new members, Nadine Knowles and Richard Barncord who bring with them new ideas and enthusiasm. Thank You both for your interest in the library and it’s future. On a sad note, two members of long standing, presented resignations for health related problems. Marlene Jungert, a member since the inception of the library board, will be sorely missed as her knowledge of the library and its history was always within her reach. Her verbal resignation was accepted. Jane Burgess, a more recent member also submitted her resignation sighting declining health. Although wheelchair bound, Jane was always willing to assist wherever she could. Her computer knowledge and ability to create various programs, schedules etc. was of great value to the board. It is with sadness the board accepts the loss of two valuable members. We wish them a future filled with restored health. Discussion was held concerning the Bräts and Brew annual fund raiser. After much thought and consideration, it was decided at this time to create an every other year event. Mark the calendar for Fall 2017 and with community spirit, support and new library board members, it will once again be an annual Library event. New members are needed and welcome. On a trial basis, the library will be open until 6:p.m. to accommodate the working patrons. Requested books and current best sellers are replacing older, unread inventory. Come to the library and see what is new and available. During the month of September, SENIOR CITIZEN patrons will be given free membership cards. For the remaining year cards will be half price at $5.00 or $7.50 for a couple. Library to be open later Prairie Community Library is now open later in the evening. New hours are from 10-6 on Tuesday and Thursday. Put us on your list of places to frequent when you're around town or on your way home. For a temporary retreat from today's technology frenzy, it's hard to beat a book. Recent bestseller arrivals to enjoy during chilly fall evenings include Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J. K. Rowling, The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, and The English Spy and The Black Widow by Daniel Silva. The library's Wi-Fi is an open network, no password needed. If you need a cozy place to research, read, recreate, or rendezvous, come on in! |
