Youth events for December
Dear Parents and Youth, As I am writing this message I look out of the window and see the ground covered in snow. It brings me to the awareness of the greatness of God and grace of His beauty. We have just started the season of Advent where we prepare for the greatness of our God through the presence of an infant. Please join me in honoring this king of the universe through praying, singing, celebrating, worshiping, decorating, and learning, It is here, as we gather together that Christ is made present! Our month starts off with Adoration on Friday, Dec. 2n. We will meet at St. Mary’s Church at 10:00 p.m. All youth are invited to attend an hour with the Lord as we wait for his coming on Christmas day. On Dec. 4th, the Confirmation night class will meet at the CEC at 7:00. Everyone please remember to bring your books. Following the parade, I will need help cleaning up and undecorating the float at the city shed. Thank you for your help in this community event. To celebrate the season, the High School youth are invited on an adventure to Lewiston to see a movie and then walk through the lights at the park. I will need drivers for this night of fun and if you haven’t filled out a registration form, I will need you to get one to fill out prior to leaving. We will meet at the Church parking lot at 4:30 p.m. On Dec. 13th, the North Central Deanery Priests and Youth Ministers will meet at Father Paul’s house at 3:00 p.m. for a Christmas party. On Dec. 14th, the 2016 Haiti team will be doing a presentation of their summer trip to Haiti. On Dec. 19th, the Jr. High and High School are invited to the OMG for a night of Christmas festivities. We will begin the night with caroling at the hospital at 6:00 p.m. We will meet at the OMG room at 5:45 p.m. Following the caroling we will eat our yummy chili and have a white elephant gift exchange. Everyone is asked to bring a wrapped item to exchange. The challenge is to make your gift absolutely crazy. The crazier the better, but make sure it is wrapped. We will be off with our families during the rest of the week and into Christmas. Merry Christmas everyone, enjoy that special and blessed family time. For something to do over Christmas break we are challenging all the High School kids and Jr. High kids to tell your parents that they need to play in the Alumni game on Dec. 29th. Help them dust off their shoes and get ready because it will be a great night for all. The cost for the players is $10.00 and a spectator fee will be taken at the door. There will also be concessions and other games. All proceeds will go toward our 2018 Mission trip to Haiti! May the joy of the Christmas season enter your heart and may you find new hope and reason for celebration as you discover the greatest gift of all, the Christ child. Have a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year! In the Spirit of the Season, Debbie Chicane |
