Thanks to the Jr. and Sr. High band for an awesome Christmas Concert. The music selections helped ring in the Christmas season. Thank you for your practice and hard work, it brightened our evening.

Wow! It's here! The near end of the Christmas SEASON! The long and almost frantic period of time when department stores do more business than at any other time we are told! Toys and gifts fly off the shelves, and at checkout counters in large department stores, one finds more checkers at work, and lines longer than at any other time!
Closer to home one would hope that the increased business would also impact our local merchants who provide a service for which they are not often given credit! That service? Someone who locally can still be counted on to have available the items one needs in an emergency or at short notice. People can count their blessings if they live in a community where such local services are still available! Perhaps at this time of the year, it would be a good thing to let those folks know we appreciate them! And buy some of their wares!
But hey! We need to ask just what is the REASON for this season of unparalled  activity! Well, bluntly, JESUS is the REASON for the SEASON! Some find it hard to admit in our increasingly secular surroundings today! We need to remember the cause of all of this commotion is really a historical event that occurred some 2000 years ago! Modern society tends to over look this historical fact, and admittedly, more and more one sees attempts by misguided individuals to eliminate the event completely, and to blot it out of our memories.
One of the most glaring attempts is concealed in the subtle attempt to replace BC and AD with BCE and CE. The first two abbreviations we still recognize around here as "Before Christ," and the second two a reference to the time after Christ, in Latin "Ad Dominum," translated "In the year of the Lord." Both methods ironically have the same zero beginning date, so that 2016 AD, now subtly becomes 2016 CE! And of course, BCE means "Before the common era," and CE means the "Common era!"
Now why would anyone want to make that substitution! In my mind the only explanation is that some of our modern PROGRESSIVES are subtly wanting to eliminate the historical person of Christ as the REASON for the SEASON! There is no other explanation, and if there is one, I would certainly welcome it! But I am not holding my breath waiting!
Face it folks! It is bluntly claimed here that this is just one more effort on the part of those in our world today who want to play GOD! That desire is behind those who try to convince us that "Global Warming" or "Climate Change" is essentially caused by us, and that we must reduce or eliminate the very use of natural resources present in nature that are there in vast and amazing amounts! People my age clearly remember the drastic predictions in the 1960'swhen the "experts" then told us that we either had to cut back our use of carbon based fuels or reduce our population growth rates, or we would be totally out of those fuels by the year 2000! Ha! In fact...Ha, Ha! We now know we have reserves in our own country which some experts claim could drive the price of gas and diesel back down below $1 a gallon! So now their drastic warning is not that we will run out, but that the very use of them is destructive!
Nice try, but I don't buy it! The very same "experts" are those who want us to believe that we the people can and must control everything! No reliance on a loving God, and a historical and loving Jesus, but a somehow gifted elite who will give us socialism in economics, secularism in religion, and a dairy herd notion of the masses who must be cared for and controlled by the gifted in charge! No way, JESUS is the REASON, and now is the time to assert it!!
