It was a big Christmas weekend for Ralph and Debbie
Stubbers. Not only were the kids home for Christmas, they received a Century
Farm certificate and plaque from the Idaho State Historical Society (ISHS),
the Idaho Department of Agriculture and the Governor’s office. The award
is given to a family that has held its farm in the family for 100 or more
years. So far they have recognized over 400 Century Farms in Idaho.
Earl Bennett of Genesee had the privilege of officiating the ceremony on
behalf of the ISHS. He said it is the first such award he has given on
Christmas day. IDs are 1--David Stubbers, 2--Juliana DeBlois, 3--Aidan

Trevor Ray Dreadfulwater was the first baby to be
born in 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Trevor, the son of Tim and Rae Daun
Dreadfulwater of Grangeville, arrived at 2:22 a.m. on January 3, 2017.
He is shown at left with his parents.Paternal grandparents are Lonnie and
Susan of Grangeville while maternal grandparents are Delvin and Rene’,

You can get an idea how much snow we’ve had by the
size of the pile on the west end of The Tire Guy lot. As you can see the
top of the pile isn’t far from the bottom of the candy cane Christmas decoration
on the pole. And despite the size of the pile there was still a good size
berm down the middle of Main Street which was a good 2+ feet high and 4-5
feet wide (berm was removed by ITD on Wednesday). Click on the photo for

The BLM had a new office building built this past

The new handicapped ramp and railing leading to the
basement of the Community Hall. The ramp is to replace the elevator which
never really worked like it was supposed to. The Hall also got a new kitchen
in the basement as it was renovated to serve as the site for the Senior

The Cottonwood Community Hall basement was upgraded
to serve as a Senior Center. Part of the upgrade was redoing the kitchen

The Summit Academy Patriots earned the Consolation
Trophy, equivalent of 4th place, at the State Tournament this past March.
