During April, the Prairie Community Library is celebrating Library Month. This tradition started in the 1950s. At the time, "Research showed that Americans were spending less on books and more on radios, television and musical instruments" (ala.org). Today, the situation has only increased with the rise of Internet usage, social media, DVDs, and other image-driven resources. But we believe libraries can still be healthy places for the heart, mind and soul. One way we are celebrating Library Month is hosting Open Houses every Thursday in April from 2-6 pm. Please come down and enjoy some free refreshments while perusing and reading the many fiction and non-fiction materials available. Located downstairs from the Cottonwood Community Hall, we hope to see you there! Richard Barncord Library Board President |
