Lady
Pirates 10-run Genesee
The Lady Pirates were only able to get one game in last week due to weather and it was a game rescheduled from a day earlier. They wound up playing Genesee at Asotin on Wednesday, April 19 and won 15-5. The Prairie Lady Pirates picked up their second straight win over Genesee but it was the first time they had 10-runned them since the 2012 District Championship game. The 5-4 win they had at Cottonwood last May was their first win over the Bulldogs since the 2013 District Championship game. After a 3-3 first inning, Prairie broke the game open with a 9-run second inning that was highlighted by a 2-out grand slam homer by Josie Peery. Prairie had just 6 hits in the game but took advantage of 7 Genesee errors. Prairie added 3 more runs to make it 15-3 in the top of the fourth. Genesee scored twice in the bottom of the fourth to get within 10 runs. Neither team scored in the fifth and the game ended on the 10-run mercy rule. Kylie Tidwell had 3 hits in the game, a triple and 2 singles. Peery had a homer and a single and Sierah Poxleitner added a single. Faith Uhlenkott pitched all 5 innings allowing 5 runs on 6 hits.
