team takes first at Kamiah
The Prairie girls Crosscountry team took first place out of 5 teams at the Kamiah Invitational Crosscountry Meet Thursday, Sept. 21. The boys team meanwhile placed 6th out of 7 teams. The top finisher for the girls team was Ciara Chaffee, who finished 5th in 23:02 over the 5K course. Maria Schmidt placed 8th in 23:42 with Kyleigh Duclos in 10th at 23:49, Kendra Duclos in 11th in 23:53 and Jacey Rambo in 16th in 24:35 for the scoring portion of the team as the top five finishers determine the team points. Rounding out the team were Kerri Villamor in 18th in 25:16 and Sarah Ross in 21st in 25:41. The top finisher for the boys team was Anthony Karel in 16th at 20:04. James Villamor was 27th in the 21:05. William Hooper was 30th in the 21:35 with Justin Lockett in 32nd at 21:54, Like Schwartz in 33rd at 22:03, Daniel Megale in 42nd in 28:53 and Tyler Leanard in 43rd in 31:34. In the girls JV race Prairie was the only school to have enough runners for a team score but since they swept the top 3 places they earned that first place finish. Jessie Sonnen took first in 24:33 with Callie Peery 2nd in 25:43 and Hope McIntire in 3rd at 26:06. Molly Schwartz was 6th in 29:44 and Sierah Poxleitner was 7th in 30:46. All 19 athletes who turned out this year were able to compete in this meet. The team’s next meet was to be the Potlatch Invitational this Thursday, Sept. 28, but it has been cancelled. They will compete at Lewiston Saturday, Oct. 7.
