Summit splits two matches
This past week the Summit Lady Patriots won a league match against Timberline at Cottonwood Thursday, Sept. 21, then lost a non-league match at Grangeville Monday, Sept. 25, 13-25, 10-25 and 22-25.
Vs. Timberline
Summit swept a league home match against Timberline winning by scores of 25-13, 25-9 and 25-16.
Coach Shirley Stubbers said the hitting of Hailey Stubbers and the defensive play of Jessie Sonnen helped the Patriots to their win. Summit also served 90% for the match.
Despite getting hit with the flu bug, all were able to play.
The JV team also swept their match 25-3, 25-15.
At Grangeville
In the match at Grangeville Summit struggled the first two games before putting up a fight in the third game.
In the opening game Summit actually got off to a good start as they took a 9-4 lead after 3 aces by Lauren Stubbers. From there though it was all downhill.
Grangeville scored the sideout and their next server had 4 aces in 7 serves as Grangeville took a 9-11 lead.
Grangeville put the game away with their final server scoring 6 straight points.
In the second game Summit scored first on a block by Lauren Stubbers but that was to be their only lead.
Grangeville put together a 2-14 stretch to turn a 4-5 game into a 6-19 runaway.
In the third game Summit came out a lot stronger taking leads of 8-5 and 9-6.
Grangeville then scored 4 straight to take the lead but Summit fought back and took back the lead at 12-10 after a kill by Lauren Stubbers and an ace by Claira Osborne.
The lead changed hands 3 more times with Summit taking their final lead at 22-21 after a kill by Claira Osborne. Grangeville then scored a sideout and served out the match.
For the match Claira Osborne had 6 kills and an ace. Taylor Lustig had 5 kills, 1 assist and 5 aces. Erin Chmelik had 5 kills and 1 ace. Lauren Stubbers had 3 kills, 1 assist and 3 aces. Hailey Stubbers had 3 kills. Kayla Rehder had 2 kills. Lexi Currier had 1 kill, 11 assists and 2 aces. Lucy Osborne had 1 kills, 9 assists and 1 ace. 
Summit is now 5-3 in league play and 7-8 overall.
