family get-together
Leroy and Karla Sonnen of Bremerton, WA planned to come to Cottonwood for a visit. It was an opportunity to get the Sonnen family together. One of Sr. Connie’s cookbooks was given to Shirley Gehring and Bonnie Gehring as a remembrance of her passing by Sr. Lillian. The plan was to use recipes in her cookbook to prepare a meal for the Sonnen family. The Duman girls and Cleo Duman picked what they wanted to make and bring. On Sept. 22 at Bonnie Gehring’s house, all the food came, as did all the Sonnens: Ron and Doris Sonnen, Joanne Sonnen, Teresa Sonnen, Gladys and Tom Schwartz, all of the Cottonwood area; Leroy and Karla Sonnen of Bremerton; Bob and Linda Sonnen of American Falls; Marge and Bud Eisele of Lewiston and, of course, Sr. Lillian from the Monastery. It was a great evening for everyone. Sr. Connie always had the family invited to the Monastery of St. Gertrude once a year for an evening. I guess you did it again Sr. Connie, through the power of our Lord Jesus, they all came. As you, Sr. Connie, always said when you were with us, I am sure you are still saying in Heaven, “Wonerful, Wonerful.” |
