CC team qualifies for State
The Prairie girls crosscountry team took second place at District Thursday, Oct. 19 at Lewiston, to qualify for the State Meet which will be at Eagle Island State Park, west of Eagle, Idaho, this Saturday, Oct. 28. Ciara Chaffee led the way by finishing third overall in 21:20. Kendra Duclos also would have qualified for state as an individual with her 15th place finish in 23:14. Maria Schmidt placed 16th in 23:23 with Kyleigh Duclos placing 17th in 23:24. Jacey Rambo was 19th in 23:39. Kerri Villamor was 20th in 23:39 and Jessie Sonnen was 25th in 24:13. Prairie scored 57 points as a team to finish second behind Deary, who had 30 points as they had 4 runners in the top 9 and 5 in the top 14. The boys team came up 2 places shorts as they finished 6th as a team with the top 4 teams qualifying for state. Also the top 20 runners qualified individually and Anthony Karel at 29th was Prairie’s top finisher in 19:52. James Villamor placed 30th in 19:54 with Luke Schwartz placing 34th in 20:03, Justin Lockett 42nd in 20:49, William Hooper 45th in 21:26 and Daniel Megale 57th in 23:04. There was also a JV race with Sarah Ross taking first among the girls in 24:08. Right behind in second was Hope McIntire in 24:58. Calli Perrin was 5th in 26:50 with Molly Schwartz 6th in 27:30 and Sierah Poxleitner 10th in 29:12. The girls state race will take place at 11:15 a.m. Mountain Time Saturday, Oct. 28. Eagle Island State Park, the race site, is just west of Eagle. If you go down Highway 55, continue straight ahead on Highway 44 where Highway 55 turns south on Eagle Rd. Turn left off of State Street on Eagle Island Parkway.
