School
changing meal charging policy
Cottonwood School District is changing their food service meal charging
policy. See below:
Unpaid Meal Charges
It is the intent of the Cottonwood School District to provide students
with a nutritious meal at a reasonable price. Our pricing structure
is based on a formula set by the state. Our district is working on
a policy to continue to serve our students but also making sure that the
meals are paid for. It is our intent to maintain the financial integrity
of the school nutrition program.
The policy is encouraging parents to pre-pay for lunches. When
a student’s school meal account funds are exhausted a student paying the
full or reduced price for meals may charge no more than $15.00 to his or
her school meal account. Student’s who have charged the maximum amount
allowed will not be allowed to charge meals until the negative account
balance is paid in full. The parent of guardian will receive a notice either
by phone, mail or e-mail when the account balance reaches $5 or less.
Notification
The District will provide a copy of this policy to all households at the
start of each school year. We hope to fully implement the policy
for the 2017-2018 school year at the start of the second semester - January
22, 2018.
Policy
We encourage you to read through the policy and if you have comments, please
share them with us. The policy is located on the District website
http://sd242.org .
