Annie Potts, the respiratory therapist from St. Mary’s
Hospital, presented the Tar Wars program to the 5th graders at Prairie
Elementary School on Friday. Tar Wars is a program that teaches students
the effects of nicotine and tar, and other chemicals present in tobacco
products, on the human body. Here the students are running in place
while breathing through a straw to feel the effects of when breathing has
been compromised. The students learned some valuable information
and would like to thank Annie for her time. Photo provided by Prairie Elementary.
