Game
with Lapwai halted by rain
The Prairie baseball started a game in windy weather at Clearwater Park in Lewiston against Lapwai but the game was stopped in the fourth inning due to a downpour Thursday, March 22. Prairie trailed Lapwai 3-7 at the time. The game was picked up where it was stopped on Tuesday, March 27 at Clearwater Park and the two teams then played Prairie’s home game against Lapwai that was originally scheduled for Cottonwood on April 19. That made it worthwhile to make the trip, rather than go down to Lewiston for just 3 innings of play. Before the rains came the Pirates put up 2 runs in the top of the first as Dalton Ross walked and Dereck Arnzen singled. Spencer Schumacher walked to load the bases and Jace Perrin singled home Ross. Lane Remacle, courtesy running for Arnzen, scored on a wild pitch. Nick Mager walked to reload the bases but they were stranded as the inning ended on a pair of strikeouts. Lapwai scored a run in the bottom of the first and added 6 more in the second on just 3 hits. Arnzen, who was pitching, struggled with his control as he walked 3 and hit a batter. In the third Prairie added a run as Schumacher and Perrin were both walked to open the inning. Lapwai changed pitchers and Nick Mager singled to score Schumacher to make it 3-7.
