Levy passes, primary winners listed
The Prairie school District override levy passed 356-225 for about a 61% yes vote.
Breakdown by precincts is as follows: Cottonwood #1, 94 yes, 55 no; Cottonwood #2, 74 yes, 43 no; Fenn, 2 yes, 9 no; Ferdinand, 39 yes, 33 no; Greencreek, 75 yes, 29 no; Keuterville, 46 yes, 31 no; absentee, 26 yes, 25 no.  About 43% of registered voters turned out.
In the primary election Brad Little won the Republican nomination for governor with Raul Labrador 2nd and Tommy Ahlquist 3rd. Idaho County favored Labrador over Little. On the Democratic side Paulette Jordan won statewide over A.J. Balukoff. Idaho County favored Balukoff.
For U.S. Representative Russ Fulcher won the Republican nomination and was also favored by Idaho County, both by good margins. On the Democratic side Christina McNeil won the nomination and was also favored by Idaho County.
For Lieutenant Governor Janice McGeachin won a close race for the Republican nomination over Steve Yates. In Idaho County she outpolled Yates about 2 to 1. On the Democratic side Kristin Collum won both statewide and in Idaho County.
For secretary of state, Republican incumbent Lawrerence Denney was unopposed. Democrat Jill Hill won her race for the nomination both statewide and in Idaho County.
For state treasurer Julie Ellsworth won the Republican nomination although Vicky McIntyre was favored by Idaho County voters in a close 3-way race. There were no Democrats on the ballot.
For Superintendent of Public Instruction incumbent Sherri Ybarra held off challenger Jeff Dillon for the Republican nomination both statewide and in Idaho County. Cindy Wilson won the Democratic nomination both statewide and in Idaho County.
For District 7 State Representative Seat A, incumbent Priscilla Giddings won the nomination in a 3 way race by a huge margin in Idaho County and a comfortable margin district-wide. There was no Democratic nominee.
For District 7 State Representative Seat B, incumbent Paul Shepherd held off challenger Phil Hart both in Idaho County and District-wide. There was no Democratic nominee for this seat either.
County races were all unopposed as was Carl Crabtree for District 7 State Senator.
